Hell, yeah.
When I was first posted to my unit, I was the only Malay with an A
Level degree in my platoon. Immediately the Malay riflemen started
whispering among themselves that this fella is a 'scholar', 'elite'
and what have you... even though I tried my best to mingle around
with them and get to know them better.
And that was why I got bullied as a PTE. In all honesty, the
Chinese and Indian riflemen left me alone - and I became good
friends with some of them.
